Privacy Policy
Effective date: 05-11-2025
LeopardSafe ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at https://leaopardsafe.org (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to users.
1. Information we collect
We collect information necessary to provide the complaint-submission service:
- Google account profile: name and email address when you sign in with Google (used to identify the user and include in outgoing complaints).
- Form data: complaint text, selected government recipient email(s), and any optional contact details you provide in the form.
- Service metadata: timestamps, IP address, user agent, and minimal logs for troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
2. Google APIs and permissions
To send complaint emails with a user's permission we use Google OAuth and request the minimum Gmail permission required: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send. This scope allows our application to send email on your behalf; we do not read, modify, or list your existing email messages. We only send the specific message the user composes through the Service after clicking "Allow".
3. How we use information
- Send the complaint email to the government address(es) you select.
- Show your name and email in the confirmation UI and in outgoing message headers where appropriate (so recipients know who submitted the complaint).
- Maintain minimal records (metadata) to support dispute resolution, abuse prevention, and user requests.
4. Data retention
We retain complaint metadata (for example: submitter name, recipient, subject, and timestamp) for 6 Months months by default to support tracking and reporting. Copies of full email bodies are retained only if the user explicitly opts in; otherwise, we do not keep full mail contents beyond what is necessary to deliver the message.
5. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell personal data. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property. We may share information with service providers who help operate the Service (e.g., hosting, analytics), and these providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal data. These include HTTPS (TLS), access controls, and limited staff access. No system is completely secure; if a breach occurs, we will follow applicable legal requirements and notify affected users as required.
7. Your choices
- Revoke Google access: You can revoke access at any time via your Google Account → Security → Third-party apps with account access.
- Delete data: To request deletion of your data, email support@leopardsafe.org. We will respond and complete deletion requests within 30 days where feasible.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13 (or higher minimum age as required in your country). We do not knowingly collect information from children; if you believe a child provided information to us, contact support@leopardsafe.org.
9. International data transfers
Data may be stored and processed in the country where our servers are located. By using the Service you consent to transfer of information to countries that may have different data protection laws than your country.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The "Effective date" above will indicate when changes occur. Significant changes will be communicated via the Service or by email where appropriate.
